How to Make High Heel Shoes Comfortable
Choosing comfortable shoes over stylish shoes is a battle that is
usually won by stylish shoes. Although we know we should choose shoes
that fit our feet, rather than make our feet fit into shoes, we can't help but
fall in love with the way stylish shoes grace our feet and make us look
absolutely fantastic!
But now there is help for those who want to look great without having to suffer
discomfort! Whether you just bought or own a pair of ultra-sexy high heels, there
are now several ways to make high heel shoes more comfortable to wear. Make
your high heel shoes work for you and not against you using two simple
strategies:
Pick heels
that are better for your feet
Buy the
right size. Did you know that your feet can
grow larger as you get older? Did you know that your feet can become longer or
wider when you are pregnant? That is why you should never assume that if
you are a size 7, you will only fit size 7 shoes! Have your feet measured every
time you buy new shoes or try on size larger to get the most comfortable fit.
You know you have the right size if you can move feet comfortably in your
shoes. Also, try wide width shoes or have the high heel shoes stretched to
widen the toe box.
Wear round
toe high heels or alternate between round and pointy. Pointy toe shoes can wrench your big toe inwards causing joint
pain, crunched toes and even bunions. Try buying more rounded toe high heel
shoes or if you must have pointy high heel shoes, alternate them between the
rounded toe.
Don't go too
high. A heel that is one to
two inches is a good height for high heel shoes. Anything higher will place
undue pressure on the balls and bones of your foot. Avoid the ultra-high heels.
Add cushioning to your high heels
Most high heel shoes do
not have adequate cushioning in the balls of your feet and that is why it hurts
when you walk in high heel shoes! But now there is a solution to add extra
cushioning discretely! You can stick Tana's
Smiling Feet gel cushions onto different areas of your high heel shoes to alleviate
the most common shoe pain points. With the new gel cushioning products, you can
say goodbye to:
.....and say hello to
walking comfortably in style!

Additional Tips:
After
a hard night on your feet, give them a break. Wear a low comfortable shoe the
next day to rest your muscles. Soak your feet in warm water or give them a nice
massage and stretch. Remember, the lower the shoe, the more time you can spend in them.
Research
has shown that you can reduce pain under the ball of the foot and the heel by
using custom orthotics or orthopedic insoles to provide extra cushioning under
the forefoot and to transfer pressure off the painful areas of your feet.
Orthopedic insoles are much more cost effective than orthotics. For most people, using "off
the shelf" orthopedic insoles with arch support is sufficient to
alleviate foot problems without altering foot mechanics.
Pedag
has a reasonably priced orthopedic insole line that is accepted by the
American Podiatric Medical Association and is developed in co-operation with orthopedists and sports physicians. These insoles are extremely light,
comfortable to wear, and thin enough to fit in fashionable shoes. There are two
popular choices that help:
